Resumo:
Currently green building has been recognized for its contribution to sustainability. Several assessment tools and classification systems were developed to analyze the environmental performance of buildings and thus integrate them into sustainable development proposals (Ali and Al Nsairat 2009). In this context, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification is recognized as one of the most widely adopted initiatives to evaluate the sustainable performance of buildings. The certification, in addition to new constructions, also includes in its proposal existing buildings (LEED O + M) that can generate diverse environmental impacts in its operation. Thus, the importance of this type of certification for the promotion of sustainable development is noted. # Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019
